Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace
In pursuance of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 and the Rules framed there under, school has constituted an Internal Complaint Committee (IC) in 2024 under the guidance of CTA-Dharamsala.(Women Empowerment Desk)
This Committee is a vital body and plays a crucial role in safeguarding women against sexual harassment at workplace and towards securinga safe work environment for the employee. The committee addresses complaints and grievances (Verbal,Non verbal,visual,physical form) promoting fairness, equality and justices.
Roles and duties
- Sensitization and Awareness of gender and related issues
- NOT to act as moral police; neither will it intrude on anyone’s privacy
- Members are expected to be sensitive to the issue and not let personal biases and prejudices (whether based on gender, caste, or class) and stereotypes (e.g., predetermined notions of how a “victim” or “accused” should dress up or behave) affect their functioning as members of the committee.
- To act as Inquiry Authority on a complaint of sexual harassment.
- To ensure that complainants and witnesses are not victimized or discriminated against because of their complaints.
- To take proactive measures towards sensitization about sexual harassment and to deal with and recommend punishment for non-consensual acts of sexual harassment, and not to curtail sexual expression.
- To publicize the policy in Tibetan and English widely, especially through notice boards and distribution of pamphlets .
- To publicize in Tibetan and English, the names and phone numbers of members of the Committee.
Tenure:
The term of an IC member is three years from the date of appointment after which she/he must be replaced. However, an IC member can be removed from the position within three years if he/she
- Breaches the confidentiality regarding information related to the case, such as the details related to the identity of the complainant, witness, or respondent, information regarding the progress of the investigation, or the recommendation made by, or actions taken by IC.
- Is convicted of an offence or an inquiry into the offence pending.
- Has abused any powers to continue in their positions in the office which could be against the public interest.
