The Tibetan Homes Foundation branch at Rajpur began as a small school in the year 1977 and initially was called the “IM School. Rajpur itself is a small town located on the foothills between Dehradun and Mussoorie. It is about 8 kms from the main city Dehradun.
THF Rajpur began in the form of a “kindergarten day school” for about 25 children with a small dispensary especially meant for the Tibetan refugees settled at Rajpur. The school gradually grown over the last three decades with children, hostel facilities and classes. Along with the school other facilities also developed in Rajpur. The overcrowding of children at THF Mussoorie was turning out to be one major difficulty with continuous new children arriving from Tibet.

A project of a new “SOS – village” comprising of 14 family homes, kindergarten, dispensary, community house and a recreation room was inaugurated on 4th of October, 1999. The children at the village for their educational needs attend the existing Tibetan Homes School in Rajpur, which is a 10 minutes’ walk from the village.

The major expansion of the school was completed in the year 2000 with the total support from SOS Kinderdorf International. At present, the school is a higher secondary school with affiliation to the Central Board of Secondary Education in New Delhi. Students after completing their higher school were transferred to Tibetan Homes Foundation Mussoorie for their senior school.
