Religious Teachings |
A nation is identified with it language, religion, culture and tradition and for a country which has been destroyed, looted and captured its rich cultural traditions become the only lifeline for survival. The language and traditions are the only flames of hope to keep its identity alive. And for Tibet, a religious country known for its rich traditions the situation had been grim. Here in THF, a |
great amount of priority and stress is paid on taking children to the roots of our homeland. The rich traditions are a part of the everyday life here with

home
parents, teachers and staff teaching children the Tibetan way of
life. The school curriculum also plays a vital role in enriching the children
with our language, religion, culture and traditions.
The
first in India and the only Tibetan temple, Shedup Chophelling in Mussoorie was
built in 1964 by THF. The temple has since then been fulfilling all religious
needs of the Tibetan community here in Mussoorie. All community prayers and
religious teachings take place here. The annual recitation of Mani ( Om Mani
Padme Hon ) is held every year at
the temple and so are the teachings of Lord Buddha “Kangur” recited every
year by children and staff at the temple.

At school all round effort is made in bringing up the children with Tibetan language, history, Buddhist philosophy, rich culture and traditional values. The medium of instruction till grade V in school is in Tibetan thus giving a strong Tibetan language base to the children. This program is called the Tibetanization program and has been implemented in all the Tibetan |
school’s in India. The school cultural group teaches children Tibetan folk dances, music and songs. All Tibetan musical instruments are available at the school music class and are taught to the children. The children also have special religious classes where our Monk religious teacher provides vast knowledge on Tibetan Buddhism. The Vocational Training Centre under THF plays an important role in keeping alive the rich Tibetan traditional art and crafts.
