An outside view of the Upper Old People's Home, Rajpur 

Besides children's care THF is also involved with the old and infirm people in the Tibetan community living in desperate conditions. THF runs three separate old people's home - two in Rajpur and one in Mussoorie. In these old people's home such Tibetan elderlies are taken from various Tibetan settlements here in India, who have no one to look after them in the evening of 

their lives. All round care is provided to these elderlies whose age ranges from 65 and above. Assistance is also rendered to sick and mentally unfit elders.

Growing vegetables at the Homes Garden

In the elderly homes two to three people share a room for living and they have a common prayer and dinning hall with kitchen and other facilities. The life for the elderlies at homes is made as simple as possible with no strict rules or routine. Except for the food hours the elderlies are free to do anything and thus they usually spend their time with recitation of prayers and circumambulating around the temple and stupa. Other than prayers the elderlies spend most of their time exchanging different experiences of life. Some of the elderlies also help with the day to day work of the homes with cooking, washing, cleaning and so on.  

Other than the usual routine, various other programs are organized for the elderlies so as to bring much smiles and happiness in the lives of these people. Programs of pilgrimage to monasteries, to receive special blessings of Lamas, outdoor picnics, elderlies day out and small kids games are a few of such programs. These little changes bring much happiness in the lives of these people as they feel they are still cared and loved.
