The
health needs of the children are attended to by the health care centre at
Mussoorie headed by the resident Doctor and a competent group of health workers.
One of the highest percentage of the total maintenance expenses for children are
spent on this section and this is particularly due to the high number of new
arrivals from Tibet. The health becomes a priority for these children from
Tibet.

The
health centre has 35 to 40 inpatients beds, an out patient department, pharmacy, X-ray facility,
laboratory and a dental clinic. The health centre has a huge responsibility to carry with so many children and elderlies under its care. The running of the center is very systematic with each individual possessing his or her personal health |

card which is deposited at the center. Every time a patient visits the hospital his health card is referred. Other than the usual work of caring for the inpatients and outpatients the center also runs from time to time different programs highlighting the importance of health in one’s life. Some of the programs are - cleanliness programs, special talks on particular diseases, special check ups, first aid training to foster parents and so on. The health centre also works in accordance with the government health agency and has been very effective in polio immunization program of the government. The centre has also successfully completed the Hepatitis immunization program and is still continuing the same with new children admitted.
