The Tibetan Homes
Foundation is a registered non-profit charitable institution dedicated in
working for the cause and care of the orphan, semi-orphan and destitute
Tibetan refugee children as well as needy elderly people. Almost four decades
have gone by since its small beginning in the November 1962 by His Holiness
the Dalai Lama. Today, the Tibetan Homes
Foundation is a well-integrated community and a model educational center with
different family homes, schools, health care, vocational training and aged
homes to serve the needs of our society. It aims not only to provide the basic
comforts and education but also helps to preserve and promote our rich
traditions, moral values and cultural heritage of Tibet. Presently, we are taking
care of about 2400 children and 350 elderly people. This number continues to
increase because the children from Tibet continue to escape from the occupied
Tibet and arrive at our doorsteps. The THF has been a great success in the
care and welfare of the children and elderly people who really need to be
saved from the worst possible hardship in this world.
Our success can be measured with thousands of children who have passed
out from this organization and are now able to stand on their own feet either
following self-supporting business or serving the Tibetan community in various
fields in India and abroad. This has no doubt been made possible with the
generous assistance of many kind individuals, friends and donor organizations
that have supported and continue to do so in giving a brighter life and
strength to children and elderlies who otherwise are in a hopeless condition.
We take this opportunity of expressing our deep gratitude to each and every
one of our friends, particularly to the SOS Kinderdorf International who has
been the backbone of our financial support. Much has been achieved and
much remains to be done. This updated information in webpage will serve not
only as a reflection of our past achievements but also help rededicate our
staff members for the future. We remain ever grateful to all our friends and
supporters and hope that their blessing hands will continue to assist us in
our work for the cause and care of these needy children and elderly people in
the future. TASHI DELEK! (Ngawang Phelgyal)Mr. General Secretary |
